In the Name of Love

u2.jpg

Is U2 the greatest rock band in the world? Releasing albums since 1980 with it’s original lineup still intact (Adam Clayton on bass, Larry Mullen, Jr. on drums, the Edge on guitar, and Bono on vocals,) the band still continues to play sold-out arenas around the world, and experimenting with their sound. And now Bono has made a name for himself as a Nobel Peace Prize-nominated activist, campaigning for the removal of third world debt and the eradication of poverty through the ONE campaign, as well as increased aid for Africa, and human rights.

He was even named, along with Bill and Melinda Gates, as TIME magazine’s ‘Person of the Year’ for 2005.

For an overview of the band, check out Greatest Hits: 1980 - 1990 and 1990 - 2000, both in the Teen Room.

Teens at the Fairfield Public Library

June 12th, 2006

Welcome!

Welcome to FPL TeenSpeak. This blog is for teens who have something to say about books, music, movies, and the world around them. It is open to anyone in Fairfield between the ages of 12 and 18. Post your comments here. If you have any thread suggestions, email Teen Services at nscherer@fplct.org, and we will be happy to add them!

Teens at the Library

There is always something going on at the library for teens. In addition to the latest books, magazines, music, and movies available for lending, there are programs just for teens happening every month, from Duct Tape craft projects, book discussions, and special events, such as Mystery Night. There are also opportunities to volunteer and earn service hours.

TAG

The Teen Advisory Group (or TAG) of the Fairfield Public Library meets once a month to assist the Teen Librarian in all aspects of planning for Teen Services at the library…

And what does that mean, exactly?

Basically, the TAG helps pick out the books, movies, music, magazines, and other things for the Teen rooms in both library branches. They help plan and put on special events and programs over the course of the year. And they keep the Teen Librarian informed about what is going on, and what they think should be going on.

Of course, we then eat cookies, drink orange soda, and play fun/silly games…

The library belongs to everyone. The TAG is one way to make your voice heard. Membership is open to anyone who uses the Fairfield Public Library, and is in grades 6 - 12. See the Calendar on the Teen webpage at http://www.fairfieldpubliclibrary.org/teens.htm for meeting dates and times.
