This is last book in a very complex series. If you are intrested in the Civil Rights Movement this is a series for you. It’s good because it puts and unique spin or a very serious topic.

In this society Crosses (people with dark skin) are first-class citizens and Noughts (people with white skin) are second-class citizens. The English terminolgy can get a tad confusing. For example, a ‘cross’ in England is an X and a ‘nought’ is 0. So it reflects upon tic-tac-toe. The author starts in present time then shows what lead up to with flashbacks in different characters point of view.

I must warn you though, it is very sad at places.
    The series goes…

    Noughts and Crosses
    Knife’s Edge
    Checkmate

The Teen Librarian should dress up as Dumbledore.

If you liked Twilight by Stephaine Meyer then you will like Wicked Lovely. Sadly it’s not as chuck-full of suspence as Twilight, it is a great fantasy romance. In this book Aislinn is born will the curse of being able to see faeries. But faeries in this world aren’t the disney type, they love screw up human lifes by pranks. Some can be violent and very dangerous. In this complex world of faeries, there different courts that have very different personalities. Aislinn is in trouble when the head of the Summer Court, the Summer King, decided to butt into her life…

The best part of this book is how the writing pulls you into the life of this girl and causes you to ponder, What will happen next?

I think the teen librarian should dress up as a gothic disney character.

    Title: The Cure
    Author: Sonia Levitin
    Pages: Unknown?
    (read whole book)

The Cure was an amazing book with a twist of futuristic possibilites and past horrors.

The Main Character, Gemm, is a boy living in the year 2407 (I think!). He lives in a time where everyone does the same things, dresses the same and wears masks to “prevent differencial problems”.Gemm is defiant and sings and, as the “cure” for his uniqueness, is sent back to the 1300s as a jew during the time of the Black Plague.

The book has great descriptions and wonderful takes on history, although some parts are distressing and graphically disturbing.

Eeek- but all in all the Cure was a great book that I would reccomend for middle schoolers and older.

Flyte is the second in the Septimus Heap series, by Angie Sage. It is a great While-you-wait-for-Harry-Potter book (trust me, anyone who knows me will tell you that means alot coming from me) The time seems medieval although never really specified.

Flyte is a great suspense- magic- mystery type of book- everything is great about it. These are deffinetly books to read in order- the first in the series is called Magyk and the third is called phisyk (sp?!?!).

I reccomend this book to any Harry Potter, magic or scifi fan

In the third sector of SH, Septimus manages to get himself into another problem and of course, Jenna saves the day along with other characters developing throughout the book. Although not my favorite of the series, Phisyk is a great fast read and deffinetly fills the space until July 21st (OMG OMG OMG!!)

THis is a really weird book. Although not a mystery, it’s hard to figure out the motives of the characters til the end of the book. It’s deffinetly a WHAT HAPPENS NEXT kinda story that leaves you on the edge of your seat till you can start again, although it’s important to be sure to pay close attention because ALL the little teenie weenie detail will come into the story later.

Just to warn whom ever is reading this, I do not like classic books and this goes on the list. This book is cheeser than a Boars Head Shop. Through out this whole book my mental image was a black and white movie in which there were men smokinng cigars with the detective hats and women in short skirts and over the top curly hair. The main character had absolutly no depth. The Spade didnt’t show any sadness at all when he found out that his partner was killed. Not only did he ‘double-cross’ his clients when he smelt money, he double-crossing the three different girls with sleep with them all at different times when they did not know. I get the whole thing about the symbolism of the falcon and the ever-lasting search, but this book still sucked. It re enforced my ideals about the majority of the classic books being boring, sexist and a waste of my time. Why should this book be a classic when there are much better books that have reached the hearts of more people?

Although I disliked this book I am still going to force my self to read alot of them over this summer. And honestly, i wouldn’t be reading any of the classic if it weren’t for the double tickets.

This was a great start to the trilogy. Even just the concept of a who falls of a tower and dies, discovering that she’s half cat, is extremely creative, not like anything ever written before. I liked the mystery of it, and the idea that most of the time she has no idea what’s going on, and there’s always an element of surprise. It sort of puts a new twist on the whole “self-discovery” thing.

This was more of an “informational” book in the trilogy, in the sense that this book is where Chloe finds out about her race, the Mai, and her enemies, the Order of the Tenth Blade. She becomes a lot less confused about who she is as a half person half cat .

In this book, Chloe has to decide whether or not to follow her destiny as a leader, (and even if she does, will she be able to save the Mai?) which gives the book some added suspense. I also liked the “forbidden love” aspect. But this is not your average Romeo and Juliet scenerio. In this case, there’s two Romeos, the one she’s expected by everyone to date (though neither person in that relationship really wants to date each other), and the one she loves more. She is not only not allowed to date the boy she’s in love with, but any physical contact with him for a long period of time would cause him to die a horrible .

What I like about this book is that it is not only an interesting story, but it is told from the perspective of a boy who goes to a school for people with “special needs”. He does extremely well with some things, like math, but others, specifically understanding people and their sometimes confusing logic. It starts with the of a black poodle, and leads to Christopher discovering more about his family, and the world around him.

I have always liked this book, and just recently reread it. I found it interesting how the book is connected to things in real life, like communism and concepts in some religions. I also liked the element of science, which makes it seem more believable.

This is being caused by the Echthroi, beings that un-name things, causing them to cease to exist. This is a really cool book. It’s about a boy named Hugo Cabret who lives in a clock tower in England, and keeps the clocks running, even though the person who officially has this job is his uncle. All that Hugo has left is an old, half broken automaton and some diagrams. He has been stealing wind up toys from the old man who runs a small toy store, and using the parts to fix the automaton. Each character in the story- the old man, a tween , Hugo, a nice young man that sneaks him into the movies- they all are connected. But one of the greatest parts of this book was the style it was created in. The book alternates from words and written descriptions to black and white pictures in order to tell the story.

This is a small but compelling novel. It

In the beginning of the book, it doesn’t say all this. You don’t even figure out that she’s run away from home in the first chapter. The author gradually gives you more information as the story progresses. One of the coolest things about this book is that some of your questions are never answered, so it makes you really think about the story and draw your own conclusions.

This is one of my super-favorite books! It’s about a named Bella who moves to the small, rainy town of Forks. She meets a strange boy named Edward Cullen. Edward seems to be avoiding her, which upsets her, because she starts to realize she loves him. It turns out that Edward loves Bella too, but is afraid of putting her in danger because he’s actually a vampire, though he never feeds off of humans. Edward doesn’t trust himself around her, which in the book he explains to her is because of the smell of her . He tells Bella that it’s as if he was a recovering alcoholic. Like a recovering alcoholic, he could stand to be in a room full of stale beer. But to Edward, Bella is like a particularly sweet brand of fancy wine. They are so in love, though, that they start up a relationship. This book is na by Bella, and she tells the reader all about the trials and tribulations of dating a boy who isn’t human. I like the description in this book, especially in the scene where they’re in this valley in the middle of the woods, and Edward is showing Bella how, because he’s a vampire, he literally sparkles in sunlight.

This is a great manga series and honestly if this was in book form I would not read it. Ouran High School is basically a rich kids school, and Haruhi is the lone scholorship student. She goes to a music room one day and knocks over a vase and the Host Club members make a deal with her, she can repay them by hosting a hundred girls. ‘Hosting’ is when a bunch of attractive guys sweet talk the girls sometimes in cosplay. As a result there are fan clubs for these attractive rich boys. I think that the author knows this is really unlikely because in about 4 book she has a little caption that says ‘ignore the fact that two of the characters should have graduated. It is still a fun read, except I think they are too mean to milord.

I hate the part of the book where (I don’t want to give it away, but…) Takeru’s mother dies suddenly in a car accident. It made me cry the first two times read that scene last year. This time I managed to hold it in. ^__^; It was a really exciting story!

It was such a cute scene because Ichigo just kind of laughs at him, even though we find out later that it meant a lot to her.

Main character: HImura Kenshin (Ruroni Kenshin or HItokiri Battosai) My least favorite part of this manga is when Kihei, a man living with Kenshin and Kenshin’s friend, Kaoru, turns out to be evil. The whole time I thought he was going to be a sweet and gentle character. He was like a father to the parentless Kaoru. I hate it when good guys turn out to be bad!

Main character: Allen Walker. I fell in love with book. It’s really a creepy story, but the illustrations of this manga are expressive. People’s emotions are easy to read, even with out words. The author also draws backgrounds that make you feel scared when he wants you to and happy ast other times. I’d have to say the art is my favorite part!

I hate the way the book ends. Allen Walker (the main character) is on a mission to take the heart of a doll that moves and is basically a person. The doll and a rejected person live together. They say they can finally be happy, and just as that happens they are killed by a monster! It made me so sad that I almost didn’t want to read the rest of the series. THe author made those two characters so important even thought they were in the story for only less than one volume.

Main character: Allen Walker. It’s a miracle! This volume actually had a relatively happy ending! I like the fact that Miranda, a character who is plauged with bad luck, ends up finding a good job and making friends. Even though she’s only been in this one issue, again I feel so connected to her. THe author has a way of developing a character really well in a short time.

I like that in this volume of D. Gray Man the reader is able to see what’s going on in the bad guy’s mind. I saw him cry because he didn’t know what to do. I lookde twice at him. THe bad guy can’t be all bad. He just wants to live a happy life. What really happened was the bad guy was misunderstood. I like how he is not just a two dimensional character.

I loved how the bad guy from the issue before this ended up being a good guy. Happy endings are my favorites! The other part I like is when we see the main character, Allen Walker’s, weakness. He was working so hard that he started to crumble. When the main character shows weakness it becomes easier to relate to them.

This was a great book. It showed how friends help each other no matter what happens. Dave’s father died leaving him with his step mom who brought hime to the HHB. He found many friendships there and also many, many struggles. He also made friends out of the HHB. He even found a “girlfriend.” I would definately recommend it. I liked this book a lot.

I think the series started to improve from here and JK writing craft evolved further. You learn a little more about Harry’s past. My favorite part of this book is the quidditch games, because Lee Jordan’s commentary is really funny

My favorite thing about this series is that the main character is a clutz. She is always falling or making mistakes but her goal is to save 13 people from a curse. I like that she never gives up, and she is never harsh or mean. Tohru is a kind character which makes the series more fun to read.

My least favorite part about the series is that it has to have a sad ending. One of the big characters in the series, Clare, is destined to die. But, my favorite part of the book is that it is always full of action! I also love how there are a lot of twists. Un-important characters who I thought were good turn out to be bad, and vice-versa. It’s a fun series to read because I never know what might happen next!

My favorite part of the book is when Charlotte finds out who the actual murderer is when the entire book she has been accusing the wrong person. It was a huge plot twist! I thought the book was a little bit dull until right at that moment. What I didn’t like was that the book hada a pretty abrupt ending and a lot of the ends didn’t really get tied together.
Since I’ve been forgetting to write this: I want the librarian to dress up as a clown!

I loved that book! Every part of it was phenomenal. I guess what I liked best was that in the end, two story plots that seemed to have no connection, came together really well and explained the title of the book.
I also liked the tension the author created in the court room scene. I felt like I was there with Scout, watching as everything took place. The author created great suspense, too. I think every person should read “To Kill a Mockingbird”!!!!

I’m not sure if I completely agree with some of this guy’s principies because I couldn’t figure out what his position was. I don’t really recommend this book.

I really liked this one! I finished it by the Friday. Yes! I realised that there are 7 Horcrux because 7 is the most powerful magical number, and there are 7 books. The only part that I was confused was the Half-Blood Prince’s book was 50 years old, that ruled out Harry’s dad so how could Snape be the Prince if he was in James’ view.

The last book I remember crying during was New Moon. But this book made me cry alot. It was from the point of veiw of a girl that if I had known, I would have hated her. The author adds many layers to the characters to make them seem life like and really like Attricus.

Alot of people told me when they saw me reading this book that it was there favoritive book ever, I didn’t love it that much. I think I didn’t like because I would have done alot of things differently than Max. Alot more confrontations and I would have gone to the media and had those scientists arrested. I got a little bit defensive when I was reading it because my parents are scientists and conspritoral theories like this give scientists a bad name, and if there are any scientists doing this sort of stuff its the government’s fault.

This book was better than the other classics were. But I did have some issues with it. For example when Cormier talked about boys ‘eye-raping’(141) that is discusting. Also there were way too many characters and they would come to almost reverlation about themselves and life and then they would brush it of. The ending really sucked. You don’t know what happened to they main character (did he die) and no one got justice. The black box needed to be explained more because no can understand what it is. They boys in this school are so much like sheep it freaks me out. This is a very sad time in humainity.

I like Michael Moore books. Stupid White Men was one of the funniest and down-to-earth books I read this year. This book is kind of the print version of Fairenheit 911. I know not to belive everything that Moore sayes but if this is all true then be very freaked out. We liberals really need to pull it together for the 2008 elections or we will be screwed. I think that the Oprah idea is still a good one.

Bad sequal to a bad book. I felt an urge to read the sequal because the ending to the book was so incomplete that I wanted some answers, didn’t really get any. Robert Cormier must have never been hugged. He never looks at the good side of humans. Also he is greatly out of touch with teens because there actions can be cruel at times, but there are very few that are actully cruel at heart.

And if I am wrong and everything that Robert writes about this school and teen life is true, i say we outlaw all same gender schools. I went to won and it was not fun.
